Wind advisory means possible power outages Monday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Power outages could become a problem across central Virginia with the National Weather Service issuing a wind advisory Monday  through 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The forecast is winds picking up late morning and continuing throughout the day into the night.

Gusts on the ground could reach close to 45 miles-an-hour, with gusts in higher elevations up to 55.

Homeowners and businesses were advised to secure outdoor loose items as they can blow around.

Wind gusts over 40 are ripe to cause tree limbs to break, and trees to fall, onto power lines, so scattered power outages are very possible.
