CPD investigating Cherry Ave. shooting Sunday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A man suffered a pair of gunshot wounds in an incident near the Exxon station at 701 Cherry Ave. on Sunday night, according to Charlottesville Police.

At approximately 6:55 p.m., officers on foot patrol in the area of Cherry Avenue and 6 1/2 St. heard multiple gunshots coming from the location, and, upon responding, found an adult male who had suffered two gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to UVA Health’s emergency room.

As of 7:39 p.m., CPD advised residents to stay clear of that area and follow directions of law enforcement as there is a large police presence.
