(CLEMSON, SOUTH CAROLINA) For the University of Virginia football team, a Saturday night road trip to top-ranked Clemson ended in a 41-23 setback. Following the Cavaliers’ first loss of 2020, head coach Bronco Mendenhall remarked “We were more prepared, as a coaching staff. We were anxious to play, eager to play and believed we could win. A handful of plays, a handful meaning five or six, were the difference.”
The Wahoos’ cause was not helped by a pair of Brennan Armstrong interceptions, which added to the homestanding Tigers’ point total. Despite the loss, UVA did become the first ACC team to notch 400 plus yards on Clemson since 2017. The 1-1 Cavaliers must now prepare for ACC foe N.C. State, which will invade Scott Stadium at noon on Saturday.
