Road closures, parking changes for Friday’s Grand Illumination

Due to Charlottesville’s Grand Illumination event scheduled for Friday, December 3rd from 5–8 pm at Ting Pavilion and City Hall Plaza, the following road closures and parking changes are scheduled to take place:

  • City Hall, Annex, and Key Rec parking lots will be closed starting at 2 p.m. (additional handicap parking will be designated along Market Street)
  • 2nd and 4th street vehicular crossings on the Downtown Mall will be closed from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • No Parking in some areas on Water St. starting at 2 p.m.
  • No Parking at 7th Street lot after 5 p.m.
  • Complimentary parking will be available at Market and Water Street garages starting at 4 p.m.
  • Event security perimeter will be put in place at 4 p.m.

 and activated at 5 p.m.
