Prominent area restauranteur killed in early Tuesday morning Owensville Road crash

OWENSVILLE (WINA) – Albemarle Police report a fatal overnight crash on Owensville Road that killed a prominent area restauranteur. Albemarle Police, Fire, and Rescue were dispatched shortly before 1:30 this morning to a report of a single vehicle crash in the 1300 block of Owensville Road, which is near Holkham Drive. 47-year old Wilson Alden Richey of Charlottesville, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richey is an owner of The Whiskey Jar, Hogwallers, Duners, Revolutionary Soup, The Wine Guild, and The Bebedero. The Charlottesville29’s Instagram tributes Richey “to know Will was to be loved… few people emanate warmth and love the way Will did.”
