Orange County woman arrested in fatal shooting

On June 16, 2021 at approx. 7:00 pm the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Hamm Farm Rd. in Barboursville, Va. to a possible shooting.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that James Manning, age 36, was deceased due to a gunshot wound. After hours of processing the scene by the Virginia State Police and gathering information, they were able to develop Brianna Cole Knicely as a suspect to the shooting. A BOLO was sent out to surrounding counties.

In the early morning hours of June 17, 2021, the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle. Ms. Knicley agreed to return to Orange County to be interviewed.

Brianna Cole Knicley, DOB 03/04/94 of 16143 Wooded Way, Gordonsville VA. has been charged with 2nd degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.

Nothing further information will be released.
