CPD seeking help in identifying suspect in Saturday shooting on East Market Street

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WINA) – The Charlottesville Police Department is once again seeking help in identifying a suspect in the Oct 14, 2023, shooting along East Market Street.

The department has received several surveillance videos from area homes and businesses following its initial plea. During a Monday afternoon news conference, CPD asked homes and businesses that haven’t scanned and turned over video to join their neighbors and colleagues who have.

“We also know that there were numerous witnesses within feet of this incident, and are asking you to please come forward with what you saw,” he said. “It’s imperative to this case at this time.”

CPD has classified the shooting that claimed the life of 48-year-old Daniel O’Brien Hall as an isolated incident.

The blocks from which the department seeks surveillance video are the 100-500 block of E Market St, 100-500 block of E Jefferson St, 100-500 block of E High St, 200 block of 3rd St NE, and 200 block of 4th St NW.
