CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – The application process has begun for those who desire to serve out the term of Albemarle School Board Rio District rep Katrina Callsen, who announced her resignation two weeks ago. Whomever is chosen will serve until the end of next year… and, as per state law, the seat will go on the ballot November 5, 2024 and the winner of that election will serve out the remainder of her term which expires December 31, 2025.

The deadline for interested Rio District applicants is Friday, October 13 at 5pm.

School board members will then interview candidates at a special meeting later in October, and a public hearing and appointment is expected November 9.

The selection will then begin serving as of the December 14 meeting.
