A meteorologist from Arkansas named Ryan Vaughan made a post stating that the proper way to place it is down the middle of the conveyor belt long way. Most people place it across the width of the belt.
Ryan’s justification for his way is that it is “to trip the sensor, and keep a distance.” He indicates that placing it width-wise just serves as a “privacy fence.”
