(ORANGE – WINA)  A Culpeper man has died from an apparent drowning in Orange County.  The Orange Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old William Dixon III was celebrating the 4th-of-July weekend with his fiancee and her family at Lake-of-the-Woods.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about Dixon’s struggle to stay above water at roughly 4 p.m. on Saturday at a beach near the Lake-of-the-Woods clubhouse.  Dixon was found submerged roughly eight minutes after he went under the water, and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
